Genzler Project - Part 2

Things are moving along nicely at the Genzler project. This week we:

1. Installed our two east slider units
2. Moved the original existing kitchen window to our new south wall
3. Milled and installed our custom north window unit

The structure is coming together, and it's great to see the amount of natural light that comes in through the windows and the sliders. It's a great open feel for a dining room. Here are some photos of our progress:

Whitehurst Project

Earlier this year, we were privileged to do a kitchen and living room remodel for the Whitehurst family. Tim Huber of Affinity Kitchens provided the design and cabinetry, and did a marvelous job making the most of a small space. This is a great home with lots of style and interesting details. Here are a few photos of our finished product:

Genzler Project

We started work on the residence of Jeff and Cathy Genzler on October 5th, 2009. This property was the first home built on the west slope of Camelback Mountain, and was designed by renowned architect Harold Ekman. Thank you to the Genzler's for giving us the opportunity to work on this interesting and architecturally significant home!

This particular project includes enclosing an existing patio, in order to provide space for a dining room which is open to the rest of the existing house. The idea is to make the transition from the entry into the dining room seamless, and to bring in as much natural light as possible from the east end of the property. To accomplish this, two large slider units will be installed along the east wall of the addition, as well as a custom built wood framed window unit along the north end, to match the original full-height windows installed around the existing structure.

We started last week with shoring up the patio roof, and pouring our slab and footings:

This week we will begin framing our walls, and roughing electrical, in preparation for a pre-drywall inspection, hopefully by the end of next week. Heart pine planks are on order for the ceiling, and our slider units should be onsite in just over a week. All in all, things are moving along nicely. Look for more updates soon...
